Jacek Koprowicz, MD, is a specialist in psychiatry with nearly 30 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. He received his medical education at the Military Medical Academy and the Medical University of Łódź. Since 1999, he has worked with patients across various areas of psychiatry, gaining experience in inpatient psychiatric care, mental health outpatient services, and addiction treatment.
In his clinical practice, he is involved, among other areas, in the diagnosis and treatment of psychotic disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, and problems associated with addiction. He also has experience working with individuals whose duties and professions require a high level of psychological resilience, including members of uniformed services.
He was the founder and long-standing head of the Pabianice Psychiatric Centre – an original initiative established independently of the later reform of psychiatric care and based on a community-based, comprehensive model of care for people with mental disorders. The solutions implemented at the time anticipated the direction of subsequent changes, which in later years became reflected in the concept of community mental health centres.
He currently heads the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic at the National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Warsaw, as well as the Psychiatric and Psychological Outpatient Clinic at OpenMed Medical Centre in Warsaw and Płock. In his work, he combines many years of clinical experience with practical expertise in the organisation and management of psychiatric care.
He devotes particular attention to the mental health of individuals functioning under conditions of chronic stress, high responsibility, and significant psychological strain. He also focuses on the consequences of traumatic experiences, including those associated with service duties, as well as on the importance of early diagnosis, prevention, and appropriately tailored psychological support.
He is the author and co-author of scientific publications and serves as a lecturer and speaker at conferences, debates, and training sessions devoted to psychiatry, mental health, and the organisation of psychiatric care.
