Tomasz Pawłowski, MD, PhD, DSc (Habil.), Professor at the National Medical Institute (PIM) is a graduate of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin and a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine, Angiology, and Cardiology. His primary clinical and academic interests focus on interventional cardiology, with particular emphasis on the treatment of coronary artery disease and structural heart diseases, both acquired and congenital.
He specializes in the treatment of complex coronary artery lesions, utilizing all modern technologies currently available in Poland for the management of heavily calcified coronary arteries, including intracoronary laser atherectomy. He is also recognized as an expert in the use of percutaneous left ventricular mechanical circulatory support devices during high-risk coronary interventions.
Dr. Pawłowski has extensive experience in advanced interventional cardiology procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), transcatheter edge-to-edge repair of the mitral valve (TEER), percutaneous closure of atrial septal defects (ASD II) and patent foramen ovale (PFO), as well as left atrial appendage closure for stroke prevention.
He currently works at the Department of Cardiology of the National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (PIM MSWiA), where he serves as Head of the Cardioangiography Laboratory, Deputy Head of the Department of Cardiology, and Professor at the Institute. He also leads the local Heart Team, responsible for evaluating patients and determining the most appropriate interventional treatment strategy.
