Sono-HSG Examination Warsaw

Sono-HSG (hysterosalpingosonography) at OpenMed Medical Centre is an ultrasound examination that enables assessment of fallopian tube patency and the shape and structure of the uterine cavity. At OpenMed, we use the modern GE Voluson Expert 22 ultrasound device, which guarantees accurate imaging and precise diagnostics. For patient comfort during the examination, pain relief medication is administered.

When is it recommended?

• When infertility is suspected or there are difficulties conceiving,
• In the diagnosis of adhesions and abnormalities in the uterus and fallopian tubes,
• After inflammatory conditions or procedures in the pelvic area.

How to prepare?

• It is performed after menstruation ends and before ovulation (usually between days 7 and 12 of the cycle),
• Current cytology (within one year) and genital tract culture (within 3 months) are required,
• Intimate hygiene should be maintained.

How does it proceed?

1. The patient arrives at the facility 40 minutes before the procedure (with current and required test results) for prophylactic administration of antibiotics and pain relief medication.
2. The patient lies on the gynaecological chair.
3. The doctor inserts a speculum and introduces a thin catheter into the uterine cavity, administering saline solution or contrast medium.
4. Simultaneously performing an ultrasound using the GE Voluson Expert 22 device, which allows confirmation or exclusion of fallopian tube patency (by observing the flow of fluid/foam through the fallopian tubes and any potential obstructions).
5. The Sono-HSG examination may be felt as mild discomfort; it is safe and provides valuable information about the state of the reproductive system, supporting the diagnostic and treatment process for infertility causes. The procedure usually takes several minutes, after which the patient can return to daily activities.
